Project Details:
The Tourere recovery project encompassed comprehensive earthworks and road realignment amid difficult wet winter conditions. Confronting high clay soil content and active waterway management demands, SCL applied specialised civil construction expertise throughout the project.
To overcome these challenges, our team implemented advanced value engineering for pavement design specifically optimised for saturated environments. Through precision earthworks, strategic aggregate placement, and selective material management, we ensured infrastructure resilience without excessive material imports.
Environmental compliance remained paramount with integrated sediment control systems, water diversion networks, and multi-stage filtering technologies meeting stringent Hawke’s Bay Regional Council standards. Partnerships with Central Hawke’s Bay suppliers and contractors supported regional economic recovery while reducing carbon footprint, and close coordination with Flemington School and nearby residents minimised construction disruption.
The resulting infrastructure features enhanced flood resilience, improved drainage systems, and sustainable construction methods designed to withstand future severe weather.
